Ivan V. Chebotariov's Background

Born in Karaganda, Kazakhstan in the former Soviet Union, Ivan Chebotariov's thirst for knowledge led him to study English in an after-school program and eventually brought him to the United States. After graduating from college and graduate school, Mr. Chebotariov began working for Mercury Insurance Group and soon married his wife, Susan. Interested in the legal process involved in insurance claims, he went back to school full-time to earn a J.D. from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, which he obtained after two years of intensive study.

During his time at Southwestern, Mr. Chebotariov developed great interest in the area of Taxation, earning a CALI award for the highest grade in his Taxation Transactions class at Southwestern, and sought out additional opportunities to take classes in that area. To that end, he took a Taxation class at Loyola Law School as a visiting student while continuing his coursework at Southwestern. Mr. Chebotariov graduated from law school in May 2007 after spending eight weeks as an extern in the chambers of the Honorable Samuel L. Bufford in the United States Bankruptcy Court.

After graduating from Southwestern, Mr. Chebotariov decided to follow his interest in Taxation by pursuing an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. where he expects to graduate in May 2008. Currently, along with his studies, Mr. Chebotariov is gaining experience as an extern in the chambers of the Honorable Lawrence J. Block in the United States Court of Federal Claims.
